New Jersey is the World Podcast
There are few states that I love more than the great Garden State, New Jersey. So when I found out that comedian Chris Gethard, hosts a podcast about all things Jersey called New Jersey is the World and my favorite governor, Phil Murphy, was a guest on a recent episode, I immediately signed up for The Turnpike level tier on Patreon and also bought a t-shirt. It’s the best $10 I spend each month right now. If you love New Jersey, half as much as I do, you will love this podcast. I honestly don’t know anyone who loves New Jersey half as much as I do, including the 15 members of my family that currently live in New Jersey. I think at least three of my family members would like this podcast too.
2. Lindy West’s New Newsletter Butt News
I love Lindy West’s writing, especially her book Shit, Actually, in which Lindy watches movies that you have probably seen and loved and then critiques them. That book was great and to my delight, she started a Butt News Movie Club where she will watch and critique a new movie each week. She first featured Sleepless in Seattle. I hadn’t seen that in years, so I subscribed to Showtime for the free trial, so I could watch that movie “for free”, but I already forgot to cancel that subscription, so who knows how much watching that movie is going to cost me in the end. Maybe I’ll start watching some Showtime shows, but probably not. The second Butt News Movie Club choice is The Fast and the Furious. I’m going to rewatch that movie before I read West’s article for ultimate enjoyment.
3. Lego Adventures with Luigi Starter Course
Last year, Lego came out with some really fun Mario sets where users could build Mario courses out of Lego and use the interactive Mario figure to make sound effects throughout the course. Mario is fine. Do you know who is better? Luigi! That’s who!
4. Star Wars Jammies
I am pretty sick of kids getting the best pajama sets while adult women are stuck with a whole bunch of florals and stripes. Thankfully kid’s clothing company Hanna Anderson made some cool Star Wars sets “for the whole family” (or alternatively for the 43 year old single woman who just really wants some rad pjs). I got Instagrammed influenced and I bought a pair and I’m currently thinking about getting a second set in another Star Wars pattern.
5. Colts Football!
Football season is nearly upon us! In fact, there are 27 days until the Colts home opener versus Washington’s own Seattle Seahawks. That means it’s 27 days until the Colts are 1-0. The Seahawks are going down! Suck it Mike! The Colts defense is going to smash your precious Russell Wilson into the GROUND! Darius Leonard is going to eat your dumb team for breakfast.
